One of the lessons from last week’s coaching days with tibor.nl. You will never be done with your work, you will never be finished with making something better, or with creating something new – and then you die.
Every morning when we wake up, we either start something new, or continue with our work, tasks or to do list. We set goals, like to grow and improve ourselves and we try to make the most out of almost every moment. That graving feeling to get the best out of everything, is also emptying our battery and does not allow us to rest.
FROM HUMAN-DOING TO HUMAN-BEING
Always striving for more means you are always in the action mode. You are busy ‘doing’. But how about you balance that doing out with ‘being’? How to find that balance? Set goals, do the work, but more importantly, celebrate those goals and take a break to look back and reflect. To integrate what you have learned. Take a pause to breathe.
CELEBRATE WHERE YOU ARE
Do not postpone joy, a moment for yourself or with loved ones because something in your work life does not feel ready, finished or complete. It might never be ready, finished or complete.
You are never truly ‘done,’ and that is perfectly fine. I know it sounds super cliché, but life is an ongoing journey, not a final destination. Find true fulfillment in the balance between progress and pausing to recharge.
Embrace the journey, and find the beauty of rest along the way. Because you are never done before you die.
