Starting your day right can make all the difference. I’ve found that incorporating a few easy morning routine tips can really make your day. In this blog post, I will share my favourite practical habits you can easily integrate into your morning too. Set the tone for the rest of the day.
Stop snoozing
It’s still dark outside and your bed is warm and cosy. Probably the hardest thing is to do then is to get out of bed when your alarm goes of. But go for it. Put your alarm off and get out of bed.
Scrape your tongue
Scraping the tongue helps to remove bacteria, debris, and dead cells that accumulate on the tongue during the night. These bacteria contribute to bad breath and potential oral health issues. Make sure to scrape those bacteria from your tongue with a copper scraper before you start drinking water.
Brush your teeth
Brushing before breakfast clears the rest of the bacteria away, denying them the opportunity to feed on your food. Brushing also helps to jump-start your saliva production. One of the most protective forces for your teeth.
Wash your face
Wash the night of your face with water. I personally love to use cold water as it may help boost your circulation, prevent acne, and reduce inflammation. And the cold gives a nice kick to wake up.
Hydrate
You lose quite a lot of fluids during the night. Therefore, it is important to hydrate in the morning. Drink a glass of lukewarm water. Preferably with some lemon to awaken your digestive system. Lukewarm water is known to aid digestion as well.
Move
When you move or exercise before breakfast, you help your body absorb more nutrients and balance blood sugar levels. Even five minutes can already make a difference. Dance to a song, do some yoga or go for a walk outside. Read some movement ideas in this blog.
Set your intention and goals
Write down your intention of that day and set goals and priorities. This will help you focus throughout the day. Especially if you tend to get easily distracted. Your intentions and goals can help you to regain your focus.
Make a healthy breakfast
A warm, nourishing breakfast provides the energy you need and helps prevent snacking later. I personally enjoy warm breakfasts such as oats, teff, or banana pancakes. Consider whether you prefer sweet or savory breakfasts and what best suits your body. This is also the moment I take my supplements.
Cacao for breakfast
I love cacao. It is incredibly healthy, nourishing, yummy and helps create a conscious moment to start your day with intention. Cacao brings you more in contact with your heart and body.
